September 17, 2018The Water Cycle Challenge is an annual non-competitive sportive organised by Yorkshire Water in support of WaterAid. The event is the flagship cycling event for Yorkshire Water and WaterAid in the North of England and is growing year on year.
The event took place on Saturday 1st July 2017 from the event base at the Yorkshire Dales Sailing Club at Grimwith Reservoir. Partnering with Alba Rosa Cycling Club and Valley Striders Cycling Club the event has a significant reach to both industry colleagues and the wider cycling community.
The event is fully affiliated with British Cycling and planned following a robust Risk Assessment process with the safety and wellbeing of our riders a primary concern. The 40, 80 & 111 mile routes take in epic Yorkshire Dales scenery across Wharfedale, Swaledale, Wensleydale & Ribblesdale.
1st July 2017 saw 225 registered riders take on the challenge over our 40, 80 and 111 mile routes. The event raised over £17,000 for WaterAid.
The Singleton Birch Team (Darren Scutt, Matt Austin, Oliver Whelpton, Ashley Evans and Mark Sacker) took on the 40 mile route. Well done guys!
