Job Purpose Overview:
Lead and manage all operational aspects of Singleton Birch. Align operations with strategic business goals focusing on continuous improvement and fostering a high-performance culture.
This is the top leadership role at the site responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations, driving operational excellence, improving processes, and ensuring the effective delivery of our services/products across all departments. In conjunction with functional alignment across MLC, this role will coordinate and facilitate site leadership team meetings, drive a strategic focus and alignment across site, communications, and activities.
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Overall responsibility for production operations, engineering, planning, and capital projects at the site.
- Ensure site alignment with MLC standards; serve as the final site authority in plant matters.
- Report on operational performance to the VP of Operations and the local leadership team.
- Direct, plan, develop, establish, and implement goals, objectives, and policies for the site, keeping in line with the overall MLC strategy.
- Partner with the Global Director of Safety, promoting safety-first practices and enforcing compliance with UK regulations and industry standards across the business.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and quality regulations and processes.
- Drive operational excellence and efficiency for the site.
- Prepare annual operations budgets for approval; ensure targets are achieved or exceeded.
- Regularly review spend liaising with the Finance Department.
- Maintain and analyse plant costs in conjunction with the Finance department.
- Oversee and support the preparation of effective CAPEX documentation in alignment with MLC standards and requirements.
- Collaborate with Sales to ensure effective planning and execution in support of customer demand and specifications.
- Work with Sales and Technical Services to determine feasibility of new product development and market adoption; provide product cost information.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain on product availability and timely delivery of products whilst main-taining quality.
- Coordinate and lead site leadership team meetings, quarterly site updates, and operations meet-ings.
- Lead, manage, and develop the site’s operational department heads.
- Foster a culture of accountability, safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
- Lead and guide the site through change initiatives.
- Continually plan and review the structure of the operations teams including succession planning; ensure that all personnel are adequately trained and experienced to carry out their tasks safely and effectively while maintaining their general welfare and morale.
- Monitor KPI’s and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure all required operations documentation are correct and maintained.
- Represent the company on the local parish council and keep up-to-date with general, local, and national planning and mineral planning, liaising with other local leadership team members as ap-propriate.

Job Requirements (Qualifications and Experience):
- Proven experience in a senior manufacturing or operations leadership role in a chemical manufac-turing business (or closely related industry).
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross functional teams.
- Excellent knowledge of lean manufacturing, supply chain management, safety, environmental, quality and ISO standards/systems.
- Previous experience managing budgets and driving efficiencies.
- Understanding of UK regulatory and compliance frameworks.
- BSc in Engineering (chemical, manufacturing, electrical, mechanical or equivalent).
- Experience with utilizing ERP systems and data driven decision-making (currently implementing IFS).
