Job Purpose Overview:

We’re looking for a Vehicle Mechanic to join the team at Singleton Birch. You’ll work closely alongside the maintenance and production teams to ensure that site vehicles are safe, and breakdowns are kept to a minimum. You will be responsible for undertaking mechanical diagnostics and repairs alongside the ongoing maintenance to site vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • Completing planned and reactive maintenance of vehicles across a production and quarrying environment
  • Performing scheduled maintenance and servicing of light vehicles, HGVs and mobile plant equipment such as Scania and Volvo tipper and telehandlers
  • Carrying out emergency breakdown repairs across site
  • Completing breakdown diagnostics (RCA) and supporting with the elimination of repeat failures
  • Conducting vehicle specific inspections
  • Liaising with site supervisors and managers to coordinate repair and maintenance schedules
  • Ensuring on-site spares are kept to optimum levels

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A NVQ Level 3/4 in HGV Maintenance, mobile Plant Maintenance or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds).
  • Proven experience in a similar role as a Mobile Plant Fitter/HGV Fitter/Technician.
  • Strong understanding of maintaining a wide range of light vehicles, HGVs, plant vehicles.
  • Good knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and diesel engines.
  • Valid UK Driving Licence.
