Job Overview
This role will report into the SHEQ Manager however, it will be site based to provide adequate support and advice to our site-based teams to manage and improve our safety and environmental performance.
They will support the SHEQ Manager and wider business in the development of work systems to ensure that the production/services of the company meet the highest standards and that the working practices of the company are delivered to all legal obligations and compliance.

FULL JOB DESCRIPTION: HEALTH & SAFETY FACILITATOR
Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Support the SHEQ Manager to drive and implement the H&S Strategy
- Be visible on site promoting a safe working environment
- Support the SHEQ Manager and HR Business Partner to implement health and wellbeing initiatives
- Develop, implement and review health and safety policies, procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with current legislation and best practice
- Communicate policies and procedures effectively across the organisation and support managers to ensure employee adherence to these
- Conduct regular risk assessments and site inspections to identify potential hazards
- Implement measures to control risks and monitor their effectiveness
- Maintain accurate records of risk assessments and safety inspections
- Design and deliver health and safety training programs to employees at all levels
- Ensure all staff understand their health and safety responsibilities and are properly trained
- Maintain training records and ensure compliance with mandatory training requirements
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses to identify root causes
- Develop and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Prepare detailed investigation reports and maintain incident records
- Ensure the organisation complies with all relevant health and safety legislation, codes of practice, and standards
- Prepare regular reports on health and safety performance for senior management
- Liaise with regulatory bodies such as the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as necessary
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures
- Co-ordinate and conduct emergency drills and training sessions, guiding and supporting first aiders and fire marshals with their duties
- Ensure emergency equipment is properly maintained and accessible
- Represent Singleton Birch at meetings and seminars organised by professional trade bodies and associations
- Share with and communicate back, best practices and learns gained from these associations
- Any other activity that is commensurate with the scope and level of the role.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role
- NEBOSH certificate. (NEBOSH Diploma desirable)
- Internal Auditor ISO 45001 (9001, 14001, 50001 desirable)
- Experience in managing ISO systems
- A good understanding of H&S legislation
- Additional Certifications such as First Aid, Fire Safety, Asbestos, Legionella etc (desirable)
- Knowledge and experience of quarrying and/or anaerobic digestion plant operations (desirable)
